AAMS18 Lamu – 2 Nights

Day 1 Mombasa – Lamu

A scheduled flight takes you to Manda Island where a dhow transfer takes you across the waterway to Lamu Island. Lamu is one of Kenya ’s oldest towns and a perfect place to both explore historical ruins and relax on secluded beaches. The afternoon is at leisure.

For the traveller, Lamu is a hypnotically exotic experience, made even more enjoyable by the relaxed and welcoming attitudes of the locals. To visit Lamu is to enter another world, and the visitor finds themselves becoming a part of this world. Life slows down, and long days are spent strolling along the waterfront, exploring the town or relaxing on the beaches.

Located in the heart of Lamu, along the shorefront cum harbour, this quaint hotel is situated at the pulse of the town.

Day 2 Lamu (B)

A full day at leisure to explore the island. Little has changed in Lamu in the last century. Be sure to stop in at one of Lamu’s 20 mosques to admire the ornate and intricate woodwork. Good shopping includes local baskets and mats.

The town is now well known, a delightful anachronism carrying on its daily life as it has done for centuries so that the visitor has the experience of being transported back through time. The town is a living monument to its past.
