Dinner Cruise on Tamarind Dhow |

AAMS03 Dinner Cruise on Tamarind Dhow
There is only one Epicurean place in the whole world which can offer as a backdrop the glittering stars of the African skies above the twinkling lights of Mombasa ’s Old port - The Tamarind Dhow. The Dhow slips her moorings at 18h30 and the magic spell begins with a glass of our classic sundowner cocktail “dawa” and the strains of soft music from the resident band, the clients are assured of a 4-hour delight.
We cruise leisurely in the front of the Old town, the Old Port and the illuminated Fort Jesus at which point we turn round, away from the welcoming wide open waters, and cruise back past the Tamarind and into the dark and serene waters of the Creek.
A quiet spot is reached at mid creek and everything is set for the meal to be served. The hors d’ ouvers- a seafood starter served with cocktail sauce and the wonderfully creamy tomato soup make a great start to this gourmet meal.

For the main course, there is a choice between grilled fillet steak, grilled lobster, and grilled prawns or seafood Swahili style. All these are prepared in front of your very own eyes - a treat for the eye as well as the palate! Dessert is a tropical salad rounded off with Kenyan coffee and “Halwa”, an Arabic dessert. The band has been playing soft evergreen songs for easy listening throughout the evening, now strikes up the beat and plays dancing music as the Dhow gently cruises back to the jetty. The bright jetty lights bring the magical moment to an end but the magical experience will always be remembered.
Transfer back to the hotel in style after dinner for a well-deserved nights' rest. |
