SAFARI PARK HOTEL: NAIROBI

Introduction

At our grand opening in November 1992, we set out to create the most luxurious and complete hotel complex in the whole of East Africa.

We were mindful when constructing the site’s beginnings as a colonial stop over between the wilderness of Northern Kenya and the bustle of the throbbing metropolis of Nairobi.

We believed and still believe that it is possible to combine modern standards of luxury and opulence with cultural heritage in order to fuse and evolve a guest facility of the highest quality.

Accommodation:
In a move that distinguishes the Safari Park Hotel from our international competitors in their multi storey complexes, we chose to create clusters of guest accommodations, in effect we have built Guest Villages, making the most of our 64 acres of tropical African gardens.

We present our guests with a choice of 204 rooms of which 35 are more luxurious suites. Each and every room has a personal balcony overlooking the gardens of which we are so proud.

Guests luxuriate in hand carved wooden four poster beds, surrounded by modern facilities such as refrigerated mini-bars, satellite television service, internet connection, electronic safes and everything else that you would expect of such a high class establishment.

24-hour room service will ensure that your stay with us; whether for business or as part of an exhilarating safari will be as pleasant and luxurious as can be.

For an even more luxurious facility, we have a number of exclusive houses available within the gardens for guests wanting to stay with us for prolonged periods, conditions are available from the hotel manager

Bars:
To complement this stunning collection of restaurants we have developed a series of informal bars where you can relax before and after your gourmet experiences. Each has an individual theme and has been designed to allow you to relax even further.

For those that require the more active nocturnal activities, high step into the Cat’s Club and Piano Bar after having had your appetites whetted by the athletic performances of our in house Dance troupe, the world famous "Safari Cats and Acrobats".
Or perhaps you’d rather take your chances at our fully equipped casino or try your luck at the King Solomon’s Mines, 500 Square Meters of the latest slot machines.

Which ever activity you choose, it can be guaranteed that you will walk back to your room satisfied.

Conference facilities:
Another facet of our desire to provide a complete hotel experience is our International Conference Centre.
Here at the Safari Park Hotel we can provide you with conference facilities for up to 1000 delegates, with the widest variety of meeting rooms in town.

With state of the art lighting and communications (including simultaneous translation of up to 5 different languages) , experienced staff, reliable equipment and conducive surroundings, we can ensure that your conference will long live in the memories of all your guests.

Health Club:
Our health club facility combines the energetic aerobic studio and gymnasium with the more cleansing and relaxing hot and cold jacuzzi, sauna and steam bath rooms, again a super way to end any day.

Outside, we offer one of the largest and most aesthetically pleasing swimming pools in all of Africa complimented with a rumbling waterfall with a natural slide, not to mention three tennis courts (2 flood-lit), two squash courts plus a 2 Kms jogging track within the secure premises.

Restaurants:

At the Safari Park Hotel, we pride ourselves in our ability to anticipate your every desire and to satisfy your every taste.
Under the tutelage of Mr. David Lancaster our Executive Chef, there is nowhere more evident than in the selection and variety of our restaurants.

Whether your mouth waters for teppanyaki, farfalle with pesto and pine nuts, Szechuan Chilli Chicken or spit roasted Eland, each evening is guaranteed to leave you satisfied.

Indeed frequently so much so, that our guests leave regretting the fact that they have had insufficient time to sample all of the available choices!

NAIROBI:
What once was a remote railway outpost has become the largest city between Johannesburg and Cairo and is Kenya's capital city and the world's safari capital. It has long been the commercial centre of Eastern Africa and one of the world's cross-roads with its international airport servicing most of the world's airlines. Kenya's capital city has risen in a single century from a brackish uninhabited swampland to a thriving modern capital. Nairobi is a city that never seems to sleep. The entire town has a boundless energy, and is a thriving place where all of human life can be found. This is a place of great contrasts where race, tribe and origin all become facets of a unique Nairobi character. Some of the places to visit whilst in Nairobi include; the National Theatre, Phoenix Theatre, McMillan Memorial Library, Kenyatta International Conference Centre, Parliament Buildings, Nairobi National Park, the Snake Park, National Museum, Bomas of Kenya (for traditional dancing and tribal villages), Nairobi Races (horse racing on Sundays), and the National International Show (August/September/October). Nairobi also has several modern cinemas in the city centre and two drive-in cinemas.

The City Market on Muindi Mbingu Street is worth a visit if you are shopping for curios. Depending on how good your bartering is, you can get a good bargain be it soapstone carvings, wood carvings or other handicrafts. The city has not lost its sense of the past, with an excellent museum and the historical home of Karen Blixen, author of Out of Africa open to visitors.

From the wildlife to the nightlife, Nairobi is a city unlike any other. With a fantastic music scene, excellent international restaurants and an endless and colourful array of shops and markets, there is plenty on offer for the visitor.
