DISH KNYSNA Closure 31st July 2010

Please be advised that as of 1st August, the Rex Hotel will no longer have a hotel restaurant on site.

Breakfast will be served in the surrounding restaurants and breakfast areas in walking distance from the hotel. A voucher system has been designed for guests on check in.

Breakfast at The Rex Hotel

Breakfast can be enjoyed either at Mon Petit Pain, located across the piazza from the hotel, it’s well-known sister restaurant, Ile De Pain located on Thesen Island within 3 minutes driving distance from the hotel or at Caffe Mario located in the Knysna Waterfront and a mere 2 minutes walking distance from the hotel.

Ile De Pain - Island of Bread is something of an oasis, even amongst the plethora of good restaurants in Knysna. When Liezie and Markus together with a small, young team opened the doors of Ile De Pain in 2002, they tapped into something so treasured by the collective consciousness, that the appeal was indeed universal. They build a wood fired oven and baked large, dark loaves of Companio bread for the nearby farmers market. Soon after, Liezie put a small menu together to complement the bread incorporating her international experience and love of local ingredients. Today the bread “complements” Liezie’s food and breakfast and lunch take centre stage at Ile De Pain.

Mon Petit Pain’s emphasis is on accessible food made from the same goodness, high quality ingredients and attention to detail that Ile De Pain is known for, with efficient and friendly service, in a relaxed and casual atmosphere. Breakfast can also be taken on the go which provides a great option of having breakfast en route to the airport or a day activity.

Caffe Mario is situated in the popular Knysna Waterfront and is considered by many to be the most popular restaurant in town. Enjoy a hearty breakfast in this traditional Italian owned café situated on the water’s edge.

Should you wish to dine at either of the above mentioned establishments, kindly be advised of the following:

  • Part of the unique concept of Mon Petit Pain and Ile De Pain include the placing of your order at the counter and the collection thereof once ready.
  • Every measure will be taken to accommodate our guests, however, due to the popularity of the restaurants, there may be limited seating available at certain times. In such an instance, you would have the option of dining at one of the other restaurants if preferred.
