Umbhaba Lodge

Gracing a high hillside summit above the panoramic Sabie Valley, Umbhaba Lodge is a bold statement of unstinting luxury in a sub-tropical Garden-of-Eden setting. The milieu is a flourish of fertility, with palm-fringed walkways, lapping water features and fern-filled gardens beneath the branches of indigenous Chestnut. Umbhaba Lodge lies on a hillside overlooking the Sabie River Valley which lies at the edge of the escarpment of the misty Drakensberg, towering above the subtropical bush below.

The mood is leisurely and the décor divinely indulgent. Guests can choose from 30 spacious, luxurious suites under thatch, promising privacy and generous comfort. Each suite consists of an open log fireplace, en-suite bathroom, minibar and television. Rich timbers and textures, earthy hues and soft lighting capture an ethnic profusion. All suites have a magnificent view of either the Sabie River valley, the subtropical gardens, or a hippo pool. There are three suite types to chose from.

Tribal Executive Suites - The ultimate in luxury compliments this magnificent African setting. Each of the 8 rooms consists of an open fireplace, en-suite bathroom, mini-bar, satellite television and seperate lounge area. Each of these rooms has a patio overhanging a lake with spectacular views of landscaped gardens, waterfalls and an abundance of birdlife.

Induna Honeymoon Suite - As the name implies - the Induna suite is fit for a King.

This deluxe suite comprises an open fireplace, en-suite bathroom, mini-bar, satellite television and jacuzzi.

After a long day, relax with a sundowner on your private patio and anticipate the magnificent sunset and evening still to come.

- These 13 suites are tastefully decorated, each with an individual style. They consist of an open log fireplace, en-suite bathroom, mini-bar and satellite television.

Comforts for a home away from home.

Umbhaba Restaurant offers a superb à la carte menu, incorporating Pan African food with international presentation and standards. This excellent country kitchen uses only the freshest seasonal produce from surrounding farms. Meals are served either in the restaurant or on the terrace with its magnificent view. Lodge facilitiesinclude an a la carte restaurant, the safari-style Burn Out Bar and a quiet lounge.

A crystal-clear rock pool amid sprawling lawns is a glorious invitation in the heat of a Lowveld day. Guests can swim, enjoy scenic walks, hike or mountain bike on numerous trails or spot game and birdlife on the property. Game drives in open vehicles are available in the nearby Kruger National Park or experience the splendour of the area in a helicopter or hot-air balloon.

Umbhaba is an appealing gateway to the game-teeming wilderness of Mpumalanga and a short distance away from the Blyde River Canyon, God's window and Bourke's Luck Potholes. The Lodge has elegant conference, wedding and banqueting facilities.
