Pestana Bazaruto Lodge - Bazaruto Island

THE WEATHER

Being within the tropics the Bazaruto Archipelago never gets cold, but on some evenings during the winter months of June and July a light jacket or pullover may be necessary. For the rest of the time swimming costumes and light tropical wear are all you need. The summer months of November through to February can be extremely hot. This is also the rainy season, though storms don't last long.

The average yearly temeperature of 24 Degrees Celcius reflects the hot climate of the island. Temperatures peak in January and February is at a monthly average of 29 degrees celcius. Rainfall totals are moderate averaging 967mm per annum.

Summer winds are chiefly from the South East quadrant, strongest in the afternoons. The Archipelago falls just outside cyclone paths and is only occasionally subject to cyclones.

LANGUAGE

Although Portuguese is the official language, English is also spoken. Chitswa is the local language of the island.
