Self-drive Tour 12 Days / 11 Nights

Explore the fairest Cape, its premier wine estates and the coastal town of Hermanus – renowned for exceptional whale watching (seasonal) – whilst enjoying exceptional cuisine at world-famous city and hotel restaurants offering you an array of local and international dishes. After sampling the Cape’s finest and exploring its many wonderful sights, enjoy an incredible Big Five safari at Phinda Private Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal. In addition to game-drives, boat cruises and bush walks, delicious Pan-African cuisine is served in the outdoor boma under a starlit African sky.

Day 1 : CAPE TOWN
You will be met at Cape Town International Airport by a CC Africa representative, and will be transferred to the Steenberg Hotel.  Our representative will hand you your travel documents and will go through them with you, providing self-drive tips and information on the many interesting places you can visit en-route.

Dinner this evening is at  Catharina’s Restaurant, Steenberg Hotel.  A fusion of classical cuisine amidst ageless splendour. Experience the captivation of flavours - tempestuous, exotic, contemporary & delectable.. Being an old wine cellar, cosy dining alcoves have been created in the original vats.

Day 2 : WEST COAST
This morning after breakfast, you will be collected from your hotel and will be taken on a full day, escorted West Coast Tour visiting the West Coast National Park and the Mamre Mission Station. 

Along the West Coast road, you will find a unique place, filled with exceptional character and breathtaking natural beauty.  The land looks dry, but hosts a range of fascinating plants, particularly the bizarre array of succulent semi-desert plants. It comes alive in spring when millions upon millions of flowers blossom to carpet the earth in  myriad  colours. 

You will enjoy lunch at the lovely Strandloper Restaurant in Langebaan, situated on the beach.  Eat your way through approximately ten courses -- from mussels to crayfish -- over 3-4 hours.

Day 3 : CAPE TOWN
This morning, your hired vehicle will be delivered to your hotel in time for you to go out and experience Cape Town at your  leisure.  A few suggestions are Table Mountain, Robben Island, the Cape of Good Hope and the beaches.

Dinner arrangements will be made at the Cape Malay Restaurant at the Cellars Hohenort Hotel this evening.  This  restaurant specialising in local cuisine is a unique dining experience in authentic Cape Malay food -- an exciting choice of traditional taste treats awaits you.

Day 4 - 5 : CAPE WINELANDS
This morning, after breakfast, you depart for the Cape Winelands area.  Your days will be spent at your leisure, exploring the splendid Winelands with their vineyards, wine cellars and historical buildings.

Wine farms in the Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek areas not only produce some of the country’s finest wines, they have also opened their cellars and properties to visitors, who are treated to tastings, cellar tours, magnificently stocked picnic hampers and tours of the farms.  And, of course, where there’s good wine, good food will follow.  Franschhoek, for example, is fast becoming known as a gastronomic destination, to which international and local chefs lure diners. 

On your first night, you will drive to Stellenbosch where you will enjoy dinner at Moyo restaurant at Spier. Moyo is an unforgettable outdoor dining experience that captures the essence of our unique Cape-African culture.

Day 6 : HERMANUS
Today you will make your way to Hermanus for your last night in the Western Cape region. This coastal town offers the best land-based whale-watching destination in the region.

Dinner will be enjoyed at the Seafood Restaurant at the Marine Hermanus Hotel has a bright new restaurant in the modern idiom where the only sea view will be on a plate! The atmosphere is informal and busy but with emphasis on fresh fish and great style from the kitchen/theatre.

Day 7 : DURBAN
This morning after breakfast you make your way to Cape Town International Airport and drop off your hired vehicle at the airport before leaving on your flight to Durban International Airport.

On your arrival at Durban International Airport, you will be met by a CC Africa representative, who will assist you with collecting your rental vehicle.  You will then continue to Lynton Hall, where you will enjoy dinner before retiring for the night.  The culinary creations of Lynton Hall are inspired by its proximity to the Indian Ocean and the property's traditional connections with colonial India.

Day 8 - 9 : DRAKENSBERG
After breakfast, you  make your way to Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse for your next two nights.  Dinner will be enjoyed at Cleopatra on both nights.  Passion and dedication are the keywords in the Cleopatra kitchen.  The Chef’s speciality is sauces, a subject very close to his heart.

Day 10 - 11 : PHINDA PRIVATE GAME RESERVE
Today you make your way to Phinda Private Game Reserve.  Face-to-face with lions and rhino after breakfast, up close to a whale shark or battling sailfish after lunch. That's the Phinda experience, one of the most exciting safari destinations in Africa. Located between the azure waters of the Indian Ocean and the lush waterways of the  Greater Saint Lucia Wetland Park – a World Heritage Site -- Phinda's 17 500 hectares span seven unique habitats.

Day 12 :
After breakfast, you check out and  travel to Durban International Airport, in time for your connecting flight.  End of services
