Rovos Rail and Air is proud to present the ideal combination for group and incentive charters in Southern Africa. Catering to a maximum of 80 passengers in the comfort and luxury associated with our product we are able to construct exciting and practical itineraries to suit your available time and budget.
There are many permutations combining Rovos Rail’s 44-bed train with our pressurised Convair 440 aircraft, historic DC 4 Skymaster and DC 3 “Delaney“.Discerning groups may choose two nights on the train with two or three nights in the Victoria Falls, Mfuwe in the Luangwa Valley, the Okavango Delta or Elephant Back Safaris in Hoedspruit.
From our headquarters at Capital Park in Pretoria very successful overnight trips from one to ten days have been undertaken in the past with business incentive groups, historical tours, private family gatherings and bird shoots.
Three to four-hour Lunch and Dinner excursions, entertaining a maximum of 80 guests, is another possibility. Within reason, and subject to availability, the chartered train can go anywhere there is a railway line on the sub continent of Africa.The train and the aircraft are also available independently for charter.
LUNCH AND DINNER TRIPS
During the course of the year we have many 3 – 4 hour Lunch and Dinner excursions where we entertain a maximum of 72 guests.

Guests arrive at Rovos Rail’s Capital Park Station. Champagne, orange juice and canapés are served on arrival. Musicians play light classical music in the background.
A Steam Locomotive will be parked on the platform adjoining the station lounge, allowing the guests numerous photographic opportunities. |
11h30 to 11h45:

The locomotive will move off the platform to fetch the train and bring it on to the platform. While all the participants are together and their attention is focused, this is an ideal time for speeches or presentations. |

Drinks will be served in the Observation and Lounge cars on departure. Lunch or Dinner would be served. Our menus reflect an accent on fresh local ingredients, and traditional dishes such as game are a specialty. Our lunches and dinners offer a starter, a choice of fish, meat or vegetarian dish followed by a tempting dessert. Fine wines from some of South Africa’s renowned cellars and estates complement the meals. |

FULL TRAIN CHARTER
Individually tailored private trips
Very successful overnight trips from one to ten days have been undertaken with special interest groups. Business incentive groups, historical tours, private parties and bird shoots are just a few of the special charters we have hosted during the past 11 years.
Within reason, and subject to availability, the chartered train can go anywhere there is a railway line in the sub continent of Africa. The costing for these trips is based on distance, time, the number in the party and the number of coaches required to house the party.
Rovos Rail is a private train company running on the rails of the National Railways and our tariff is determined by the number of coaches run at a given time and the distance covered: added to which are the costs of locomotive crews, train inspections and watering facilities.
Therefore, each charter request has to be individually costed.
