We have recently returned from our wonderful honeymoon in South Africa, and I wanted to write to thank you & your team so much for our magical wedding day with you at the Country House, on 24th Sept.
You only get one shot at having a perfect wedding day, and I'm so grateful to you all that for the rest of my life, when I look back on our wedding day, I will have such wonderful memories. As I wrote in your comments book, the day was somewhere between a dream & a fairytale. I think that just about sums it up, but I will try & elaborate.
The place itself, Hunters Country House, is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to. Coming from overseas, we had to book everything over the internet with only travellers reviews to rely on, but we honestly could not have picked anywhere more perfect. I am English, and have seen many beautiful English country gardens & stately homes, but many would struggle to compete with Hunters.
On arrival we were upgraded to the Forest Suite. Well, words fail me..... What a beautiful suite. Thank you so much.
The gorgeous little chapel and the lovely Rev. Chris made the ceremony itself so memorable for us. Even though he only met us the day before, he tailored the ceremony to encompass all our little requests - again, his attention to detail was outstanding.
After the ceremony we had canapes (which of course were delicious) and then we went to Knysna for a sunset cruise. The car picked us up & brought us back exactly on time. The cruise itself was lovely.
We then returned back to Hunters for our evening meal in the private dining room. When we were taken into the room I had tears in my eyes. What a transformation!!! The lovely little room we were shown the day before had been turned into the most romantic venue I've ever seen (I'm getting goose bumps just writing this). The table was decorated in rose petals, there were candles everywhere & we even had a roaring fire. It really was something from my dreams. Things got even better when we tasted the delicious food. We've been to many 'top' restaurants in many places in the world, but the food we had at Hunters really was top class. The service was also spot-on. The staff were there when you needed them, but not at all intrusive. Some of the staff also sang for us, which was a lovely touch.
The breakfast the next morning was also up to the same very high standard. Everyone was eating inside but we were asked if we wanted to eat outside, and someone immediately laid a table for us. This may seem small, but it's just one of the many 'small' things that make up the bigger picture & make Hunters so special.
In summary, from the moment we arrived, everything worked like clockwork. It was such a good feeling to be able to relax in the knowledge that everything was being looked after with such attention to detail. Every member of staff we met exceeded our expectations in terms of warmth, friendliness & professionalism. From the staff that served our breakfast to Julie who dealt with much of the planning with me over email, to the guy that washed our car, to you Inge. ...but one staff member who really stood out for us was Tramaine.
We very much look forward to seeing you all again sometime soon....and we will most certainly be in touch when we decide to renew our vows.
Thanks again for making our memories so very special.
All our love,
Emma & Mark Ollerenshaw
