Restaurants
Since 1989, a Dining experience at Hunter’s Country House has become one of the mythical must do’s of the Garden Route.
In a time when “Less has become less and less”, and minimalism is at it’s zenith, there is something so welcoming about a Grand Old Homestead filled with decadent fabrics and the sparkle of crystal chandeliers. Arriving in time to enjoy the crepuscular light of the rolling gardens is imperative!
The award winning fare on offer from Head Chef, Tanya Kruger and her all girl Team is sensitively and intelligently put together. With the luxury of a menu that changes weekly, Tanya is able to make use of ingredients that are available and seasonally ripe for short periods during the year. Flavour combining is Tanya's hallmark and she and her Team have their fingers firmly on the pulse of International trends, whilst remaining true to their deep South African roots.
No Dinner would be complete without the enjoyment of exceptional wine and Hunter’s Country House’s “strictly S.A.” highly rated winelist is a Gem. So few properties have the ability to purchase wine for the future, with a 3000 bottle Cellar, Hunter’s does just that. The result is a treasure trove for wine lovers both local and international.
With the genteel and thoughtful service of local staff who've grown with the company over the years, a dinner visit to Hunters Country House just 10km outside Plettenberg Bay is like a holiday from the rushed world of today. Diners Club Platinum Award Winner 2006, 2007 and 2008 and the Achievement award for consistenly remaining in the Top 10 restaurants of the Garden Route. |
Summer House
Almost into it’s third year, The Summer House at Hunter’s has become a well loved family favourite.
Initially created to provide guests with a reprieve from complicated menus, yes, it is actually very demanding dining one’s way through Cape Town, Franschhoek and the Garden Route; Our Executive Chef has created a no fuss, robust yet simple menu.
The menu focuses on the best of local produce from cheese to seafood, where one may taste different dishes and while away a lazy afternoon or evening in one of the most relaxing settings available.
Whether it is a quick bite on a sunny afternoon to the lazy buzz of bumble bees or a linger longer dinner beneath the dainty sparkle of a chandeliered thatch roof, a meal at the Summer House is just special.
