Accommodation and cuisine
The luxurious thatched lodge has 25 airconditioned en-suite rooms set in typical Lowveld bush country. Tulani now also have twelve self-catering rooms available. To enhance the peace and quiet of the bush we do not have TV sets in our rooms. Bird-life abounds and animals can be observed from your room or from the viewing deck in the restaurant complex. Every day has a new menu of typical South African home-cooked meals.
Dinner time is social time as everybody gets together around communal tables to chat and enjoy a four-course buffet dinner. A starter and soup is served at the table with delectable home-baked bread. Tulani is ideally situated as a base for visiting Kruger National Park or doing some outstanding day-drives to exciting destinations in the Lowveld and the Drakensberg escarpment. The pleasant climate is suited for summer or winter visits. |
What to do
Relax in the stress-free environment. Enjoy the cool pool in our natural garden. Do some bird-watching. Arrange for a bush-walk with the General Manager. Visit the Kruger National Park and the Letaba Elephant Museum.
Go for a full day or a half day excursion to:
• The Kapama Cheetah breeding project
• The Drakensberg panorama route which includes the Mac-mac falls, God's
Window, the Bourke's luck potholes, three rondavels and other scenic wonders.
• Play golf at the famous Hans Merensky golf course right on the border of the Kruger National Park.
Open vehicle drives into the Kruger National Park can be arranged.

Tulani Safari Lodge is situated in the Balule Nature Reserve, 30kms from the Phalborwa gate to the Kruger National Park.Many guests use Tulani as a base to visit the Kruger National Park.
Golfers can make use of the opportunity to play at the world renowned Hans Merensky Golf course, which is only 30 km away. The Hans Merensky club adjoins the Kruger National Park, and a variety of wild animals can normally be seen on the course.
Tulani can also be used as a base to visit the Kapama Cheetah project, or take a full day drive tot the spectacular Panorama route on the Drakensberg escarpment. On the Panorama day outing memorable places to visit are Pilgrim's Rest, the historical mining town, the Three Rondavels, Lisbon Falls, Gods Window and Bouke's Luck pot holes. |
From Johannesburg to Tulani Safari Lodge.
- From Johannesburg, Take the route to WITBANK.
- Contine stright to MIDDELBURG.
- From MIDDELBURG contine straight on the BELFAST / NELSPRUIT route.
- Turn left off the route to BELFAST
- Turn right in the town of BELFAST and follow the route to DULLSTROOM.
- Continue straight through DULLSTROOM until you reach the T-junction at LYDENBURG.
- Turn left at the T-junction.
- Follow the route to OHRIGSTAD.
- From OHRIGSTAD, continue straight on the TZANEEN / PHALABORWA road.
- The route goes through the ABEL ERASMUS PASS and the J.G STRIJDOM TUNNEL.
- Once through the tunnel and the pass, turn left on the TZANEEN / PHALABORWA road.
- Continue for 11kms, then turn right on the PHALABORWA road.
- Follow this road for 25km, until one gets to a T-junction.
- Turn left to PHALABORWA
- After 25km, find the brown tourist information sign with TULANI SAFARI LODGE turnoff to the right (turnoff on the GRIETJIE ROAD).
- Follow the clearly indicated route to TULANI, TULANI is 9kms, from the main tar road.
