KWALATA GAME RANCH:(40 min drive)
Game Drives and Shebeen Tours (Guided)
Kwalata Game Ranch derives its name from the endangered and proud Sable Antelope.
Covering an area of 1500 HA, only 45 km north of Pretoria, Kwalata is home to more than 14 species of game. Kudu, zebra, giraffe, blue wildebeest, impala, waterbuck, steenbok, ostrich and warthog are just some of the animals roaming the African savannah. Four kilometres of the Pienaars River sustains a colourful abundance of bird life in this malaria free area.

The protected Tamboti tree also enjoys prominence at Kwalata Game Ranch as Main Camp is built amongst a number of these beautiful trees.
Only an hour's drive from Johannesburg International Airport, the African Bushveld begins here!
From its humble beginnings around a black pot under starry skies, Kwalata has sprawled into a leading conference and function venue.

It boasts a beautiful and quite unique wedding chapel in the midst of a Tamboti forest, adjoining a boma and catering facilities for 300 guests. Four conference centres allow companies a productive workshop in the bushveld. Guests can overnight in comfortable accommodation.
Whether it's a campfire in the bushveld, a herd of blue wildebeest trekking through the bush, crossing a river on a 80m high rope, Sangomas throwing the bones, gum boot dancing, walking trails through the African bush, a crimson breasted shrike announcing daybreak, braaied chickens in a Mozambican tavern dished up with pumping kwaito music, come to Kwalata Game Ranch and experience Africa on your doorstep . .

DINOKENG CONSERVANCY:
Just north-east of urban Joburg and Tshwane lies the vibrant and warm, big-sky region of Dinokeng, where the world's largest diamond was discovered. Today the area is sparkling with natural, cultural and historical attractions, a place where South Africans and their visitors enjoy the outdoors and the history and culture of Africa.

The name Dinokeng is derived from the languages of the baTswana and baPedi people who traditionally inhabited the area. Meaning "a place of rivers", Dinokeng lies in the catchment area of two rivers that flow into the Olifants and Limpopo rivers and on to the Indian Ocean. In African culture, river sources have sacred significance and their confluences are believed to hold healing powers.

Dinokeng is in the north-eastern quadrant of Gauteng province. It's very easy to reach from Joburg (45 minutes) or Tshwane (15 minutes) on the N1 or the N4, and it's well traversed by good quality roads once you're there.

Dinokeng has many game reserves and conservancies, which are being linked together and restocked with game with the potential to form a large Big Five game reserve in future.

Against this natural backdrop, Dinokeng offers a melting pot of history and culture. The area's history is of particular significance to the Tswana, Pedi, Afrikaans, Ndebele, English and Tsonga-speaking people, many of whom can trace their roots back to the ancient bush and rolling grasslands.

Dinokeng is a Blue IQ initiative of the Gauteng Provincial Government to establish a premier tourist destination close to urban Gauteng. The project aims to promote economic growth, job creation and social upliftment through conserving and developing the historical, natural and cultural heritage of the area. It also aims to enable many South Africans to experience tourism for the first time.

Dinokeng is symbolised by the calabash - representing hospitality and prosperity of the region as an outdoor recreation destination, as a hub of significant natural, cultural and historical attractions, as a place of tourism growth and new investment, and for the social upliftment and economic development of the local communities.

The traditional patterns on the gourd are indicative of the craft and cultural wealth of the local communities.
